The Whiskey & Wine End Table

Commissioned for amazing people in Lawrenceburg, IN

A singular end table was crafted as a keepsake for two avid wine travelers. Their collected corks, each tied to a memory of a favorite winery, were hand-laid in a striking, carefully composed pattern and encased in ultra-clear epoxy, preserving the texture and color of every cork beneath a glass-like surface. The base is reclaimed from an authentic, previously used whiskey barrel; the scent released during cutting and sanding was a reminder of the barrel’s history and character. The top is framed in vertical-grain mahogany with precision-mitered corners that echo a barrel’s form, while a subtle inward pinch at the center provides a refined counterpoint to the table’s curved legs. Exposed edges of the barrel staves were custom-aged to blend and conceal fresh cuts, and the piece was sealed in a durable hard-wax oil finish that enhances the wood’s depth while protecting it for everyday use. A conversation-starting fusion of memory, reclaimed material, and meticulous craftsmanship, designed to be as useful as it is personal.
