Meet Chris

Hi, I’m Chris Goodrich, and I cannot express just how thrilled I am that you’re reading this, as I never expected in my wildest dreams that I would have a woodworking business. The seeds of this venture were planted in 2020 when my family purchased our forever home in beautiful Amherst, NH: a unique piece of history built in 1782 with deep roots in the town, having remained in the ownership of the original family through generations until 2018. The house was in dire need of a careful restoration; which became my personal project and grew into a devoted craft and the heart of Chris Goodrich Custom Woodworks.

When my family bought that house, its history was visible in every joist and window sash. We stripped rooms back to their bones and rebuilt them with reverence for the old and a clear vision for the new. Those tight, irregular spaces demanded custom solutions: built-ins that fit like a secret, shelves shaped to the curve of a wall, furniture that felt born of the house itself. An interest became a hobby, then a necessity, then a joy, and finally a calling. The first piece built as a Chris Goodrich Custom Woodwork was born in 2021; expanding to unsolicited gifts for family and friends, growing into paid commissions for clients who understood the difference between something made and something made to last.

My work is guided by three commitments:

  • Lasting craftsmanship: I design and construct heirloom-quality pieces intended to be lived with, loved, and handed down.

  • Thoughtful authenticity: Every commission begins with listening: understanding your space, your story, and the way you want to live, and then shaping wood to reflect that life.

  • Respect for material and history: I choose and work with timbers that honor both the environment and the traditions of fine woodworking.

I envision homes and businesses graced with furniture that feel inevitable: pieces that belong because they were conceived for a life already being lived. My hope is that each creation becomes part of a family’s memory: a table where stories unfold, cabinetry that organizes everyday rituals, and built-ins that anchor a room’s history.

If you’re seeking furniture that combines measured design, impeccable joinery, and an appreciation for the stories embedded in your space, I’d be honored to collaborate. Together we’ll create pieces that are not merely used, but treasured.
