The Coffee, Coffee Bar

Commissioned to be a conversation starter in Amherst, NH

This client brought an ordinary table and asked me to replace its cheap veneer with a true conversation piece. Knowing it would serve as a coffee station, I designed a top made entirely of real coffee beans, blending light and dark roasts to create striking contrast, then preserved and unified the surface in a crystal-clear epoxy with an edge profile molded directly into the casting. From across the room it reads like a richly stained wood top. Up close, guests’ reactions shift from appreciation to astonishment as they realize the texture and depth are all coffee. The result is a functional, durable surface that delights and sparks conversation every time a cup is poured.
